John BUTLIN born approx 1809 in Coln St Dennis, Gloucestershire, married Mary MATTHEWS (see MATTHEWS file) born approx 1807 in Chedworth, Gloucestershire. By 1851 they were living in Coln St Dennis, John was aged 42 and a Tailor by profession, and Mary was 44. In 1851 living with them were Rhoda (neice) she was 8 (born circa 1843) and a scholar, born in Coln St Dennis. Rhoda doesn't have her surname mentioned but also living with them was Isaac MATTHEWS - brother in law to John and more importantly a widower aged 33 and a Tailor by profession, born in Coln St Dennis. I would suggest that Rhoda is Isaac's daughter but require proof for this conclusion. Also shown staying with John & Mary at the time is Robert HARVEY, apprentice, aged 18 a Tailor from Fairford. By 1861 John is not shown, had he passed away? Mary is aged 54 a Fund Holder, born in Chedworth, and living in Coln St Dennis.
