I have only recently started researching my step-fathers lineage of the SLATER's. I have been helped my step-aunt Sheila SLATER (nee WATERWORTH). She herself is researching her maiden name, so if anyone is researching the Waterworth's of in and around the Keighley area of Yorkshire, please email me and let me know and I will pass it onto her. Anyway, back to my step-fathers main line. His great-grandfather James, was a Cotton Manufacturer from Barnoldswick, on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border, where Colin (my step-father) was born. The rest of the SLATERs seem to have also worked in the textile field, mostly as weavers.
The lineage of the SLATERs is being worked on at the moment, so may
take some time before coming on the web site, however, here is the basic
lineage for your perusal.

from Barnoldswick.
